Many professionals have relocated to Tech Valley and are proud to call it home. Here’s what they have to say:
“I am happy to be back in the area as it reminds me a bit of my hometown and the city all in one. It’s less congested, more laid back, buying a home is realistic, there are business opportunities, things to do and we are close to other cool places like Boston, New York City, the Adirondacks and Saratoga. There is so much new stuff happening here; it’s exciting to be a part of it all.”

“I moved out of the area for 10 years to pursue my education and when I was finished I knew that the Tech Valley region was the place that I wanted to settle down with my family. I’m so fulfilled to be living in this community and enjoying all that our region has to offer."

"I graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and moved to the Washington D.C. area. I recently decided to relocate back to upstate NY because I wanted to be closer to my family and enjoy the outdoors. Since I have been back, I am fascinated with the growth and development of Tech Valley. I found the Explore New York’s Tech Valley relocation package to be very helpful in finding a place to live and reacquainting myself with the region."

"Much has changed in the 19 years since I last lived in the Albany area – all for the better. Better restaurants, better jobs, better opportunities, and a growing high-tech presence that contrasts nicely with the beautiful old architecture and storied history of Albany. There is an excitement about the future of the region that was not around when I was growing up.
Having lived in Los Angeles and New York City for the past 15 years, I find myself noting the little things that define the high quality of life upstate: clean air, scenic views, available parking spots, great downtown areas in Albany and Troy, close proximity to major metropolitan areas, and the list goes on. Not to mention it’s a great place to raise a family – lots of space, good schools, affordable babysitting and, in my case, an abundance of family and friends. I’m very excited to be back."

For 16 years, I lived in different places throughout the country, including major metropolitan cities like Washington, D.C. Each of these areas had different advantages and disadvantages, but when it came time to start a family, my wife and I wanted a place that not only had a good job market, but also affordable housing and a more manageable lifestyle. I wouldn't have guessed it at the time, but that place turned out to be Tech Valley. And I have to say, it feels good to be home.
