Relocating to a new area is a challenging task. Programs and resources available through many Chambers of Commerce help to ease this transition. Relocation packages and handbooks include up-to-date information on apartment rentals, the housing market, neighborhoods, recreation, quality of life, obtaining a driver license, health care choices and many other pertinent topics.
TechValleyConnect, a consortium of employers in the Capital Region, focuses on providing relocation resources for new and recent hires and their families. The organizations belonging to the consortium provide informational interviews for "accompanying spouses." A TechValleyConnect coordinator addresses each family’s specific relocation needs.
Contacting your county board of realtors would be an excellent first step in exploring housing options in the region. These groups will connect you with a qualified realtor who will assist you in finding the right home in the right location for you.
