Fast Facts Here are some essential facts about Tech Valley: Region   Tech Valley encompasses 19 counties of New York State stretching from the Canadian border to just north of New York City. The counties are Albany, Clinton, Columbia, Dutchess, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Hamilton, Herkimer, Montgomery, Orange, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Warren and Washington. Tech Valley is 17,048 square miles. (1) There are 129 people per square mile. (1) The region is about 270 miles at its longest point and about 138 miles at its widest point.   Population   According to the US Census 2005 estimate, Tech Valley’s population is 2,292,293, an increase of 3.9% since the 2000 US Census. The population is 51.8% female and 48.2% male. (1) 88.5% of the population is white, 6.2% is black or African-American, 4.9% is Hispanic or Latino and 1.5% is Asian. (1) The median age is 37.5 years.
