One of the world’s leading technology executives will serve as a featured speaker at the sixth annual Summit in Tech Valley, scheduled for April 26 at The Desmond Hotel & Conference Center in Colonie, New York.
Lawrence A. Bossidy is the retired CEO and chairman of the board of Honeywell International Inc., a global $26-billion advanced technology, controls and manufacturing company.
Bossidy is co-author of the best-selling book “Execution: The Discipline of Getting Things Done,” and its sequel “Confronting Reality: Master the New Model for Success.”
“At our milestone sixth anniversary Summit in Tech Valley, Lawrence Bossidy’s address will give attendees a strong sense of the competitiveness of the business world,” said Chamber Senior Vice President Ann Wendth, who is the lead organizer of the Summit. “He will also provide helpful advice that individuals can use in their businesses. His presentation will undoubtedly be a ‘can’t-miss’ for anyone looking to learn about the secrets to financial success.”
Bossidy’s distinguished five-decade career in business began with the General Electric Company’s renowned financial training program in 1957. He spent the next 34 years serving GE in numerous positions, including the duties of vice chairman and executive officer.
He joined AlliedSignal Inc. in 1991 as chairman and CEO, and is credited with transforming AlliedSignal into one of the world’s most admired companies. During his tenure, the company achieved 31 consecutive quarters of earnings-per-share growth of 13 percent or more and an eight-fold appreciation of the company’s share price.
He was named “CEO of the Year” by Financial World magazine in 1994 and “Chief Executive of the Year” by CEO Magazine in 1998. In 1999, Bossidy became Chairman of Honeywell, following the merger of AlliedSignal and Honeywell in December of that year. He retired from the company in 2002.
Bossidy graduated from Colgate University in 1957 with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He is a member of the Board of Directors of JP MorganChase, Merck & Company and Berkshire Hills Bancorp Inc., as well as an advisor to Aurora Capital Group, a leverage buyout firm.
