Tech Valley News CNSE Hosts Students for NanoCareer Day The College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering of the University at Albany hosted more than 300 middle- and high-school students from Tech Valley and upstate New York for NanoCareer Day on December 3, providing a firsthand look at the emerging science of nanotechnology. The program, which is designed to help prepare students for a growing number of nanotechnology-related career opportunities in Tech Valley and New York State while also addressing the critical need to stimulate an interest in math and science among America's younger generation, gave students an inside look at the UAlbany NanoCollege and its $5 billion Albany NanoTech Complex. The daylong event included presentations by CNSE faculty on the emerging science of nanotechnology and the career opportunities it offers; hands-on demonstrations explaining the role of nanotechnology research and development; and, tours of CNSE's Albany NanoTech Complex, with tools and facilities that are unparalleled in the university setting. Schools participating in NanoCareer Day, and their counties, included: Berlin Central School (Rensselaer); Whitesboro Central School (Oneida); Duanesburg Central School (Schenectady); Hoosic Valley Central School (Rensselaer); Greater Amsterdam School District (Montgomery); Troy City School District (Rensselaer); Menands School (Albany); Berne-Knox-Westerlo Central School (Albany); Worcester Central School (Otsego); and, Watervliet City School District (Albany).
