Seventeen Dutch wooden boats - flat-bottomed vessels resembling racing yachts with large sails - will take part in the region's Hudson 400 celebration in September. Spectators will be able to view boats along the waterfront at the Corning Preserve in Albany.

English explorer Henry Hudson, sailing for the Dutch took his ship from New York City to Albany on the river that now bears his name. A wooden replica of Hudson's ship, the Half Moon, will also be on display.

The events are part of the statewide Hudson Fulton Champlain Quadricenntennial Celebration that marks the 400th anniversary of the voyages of Hudson and French explorer Samuel de Champlain, and the 200th anniversary of Robert Fulton's steamboat trip on the Hudson River.
