Region Ranks High for Job Growth
In New Geography's Best Cities for Job Growth ranking, Albany-Schenectady-Troy checks in at #17 and Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown at #29 among medium-sized cities while Glens Falls placed 35th among small cities.
The study is based on the "robustness of a region's growth both recently and over time."
Among the factors:
- The current and prior year's employment growth rates, with the current year emphasized
- The average annual 2004-2009 growth rate
- The sum of the 2004-2009 and 1999-2003 employment growth rates multiplied by the ratio of the 1999-2003 growth rate over the 2004-2009
- Current year growth.
